The 1950’s was a time of wonder and the universe was the focus of many young imaginations. Hollywood adopted science fiction and the toy industry followed closely. The Japanese manufactured toy robots for the children of America and designed great boxes to hold these vintage tin toys. This illustration art comes directly from these boxes. This toy box art is an attempt to capitalize on the Robby the Robot who first appeared in the 1956 film Forbidden Planet.
