One of the Bloodiest Battles of the Civil War fought to no advantage and regretted by Grant who stormed Lee’s defensive position resulting in the slaughter of Union Troops. Cold Harbor was named for a Tavern – Harbor meaning a place of protection here not a port city. It was the final battle of Grant’s Overland Campaign.
